5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA :
Water spray, foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide
UNSUITABLE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA:
Do not use water jets.
FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD
Oxides of carbon.
SPECIAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT FOR FIRE FIGHTING:
In case of fire, wear a full face positive- pressure self contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS:
Remove sources of ignition. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. After contact with skin wash immediately with plenty of soap and water. Use personal protective equipment recommended in section8.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS:
Do not allow to enter sewers or water courses. If spillage does enter sewers or water courses, immediately inform the appropriate water authorities.
METHODS FOR CLEANING UP:
Contain and absorb with sand or vermiculite and mix well. Collect up and remove to a safe place until disposal. Wash site of spillage thoroughly with water and detergent. Assistance can be obtained from waste disposal companies.
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
HANDLING:
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If clothing is contaminated, remove clothing and thoroughly wash the affected area. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse. Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not use in confined spaces. No smoking.
Dip cleaning- Keep tanks covered.
Wiping/Brushing- Used clothes and brushes should be stored in lidded containers.
Spraying- Spraying can lead to high solvent vapour concentrations. Wear organic vapour/mist respirator when spray cleaning large areas or if spray cleaning for an appreciable length of time.
STORAGE CONDITIONS:
Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well - ventilated place. Store away from heat and sources of ignition. connections must be grounded to avoid electrical charges. Store separately from oxidizers. Equipment for storage and application should be constructed from stainless steel carbon steel, brass, cast iron or polyethylene. Avoid use of ethylene propylene rubber, butyl rubber and natural rubber.
